Despite the snow and cold conditions outside, the Ball State University men and women's swimming and diving teams were anything but cold Saturday as they swept the IUPUI House of Champions Invitational for the second straight year.
Reigning Mid-American Conference swimmer of the week, Mary Ehresman, won two events and anchored the first-place 800-yard freestyle relay team. In addition, junior Lisa Maertin's score of 282 in the 3-meter event qualified her for the NCAA Zone Diving meet in March in Minneapolis. Maertin qualified for the meet in 1-meter last month against the University Akron.
For the men, Ben Battjes won the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events.
The Cardinals are next in action this Saturday at Michigan State University, the alma mater of coach Laura Seibold-Caudill.
