American Idol stars to perform at Emens

Ruben Studdard and Frenchie Davis of American Idol will perform in the Broadway musical "Ain't Misbehavin'" at 7:30 p.m. in John R. Emens Auditorium.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the musical, which is about the spirit of legendary jazz musician Fats Waller and the sound of Harlem in the 1930s.

The musical won the Tony Award, the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award and the Drama Desk Award's for Best Musical in 1978.

The show will benefit all students because it offers viewers an insight into a piece of American history, Robert Myers, director of Emens Auditorium and Pruis Hall, said.

Between 1,500 and 1,600 guests are expected to attend the event, Darcy Wood, associate director of marketing for Emens Auditorium and Pruis Hall, said.

Reserved seating for adults is between $33 and $49, $25 and $20 for children 18 and younger, and free for Ball State students who got their tickets in advance with a student ID.
