Three Ball State University students were arrested late Wednesday on suspicion of stealing almost $16,000 worth of musical instruments from Zionsville Community High School, police said.
Shawn Blankenship, John Guilliam and Jillian Smith face charges of burglary and theft - both Class C felonies with standard prison sentences of two years if convicted, according to a Zionsville Police Department report.
On Nov. 9, the instruments were stolen from the high school's band room. After speaking with residents of Zionsville, police tracked down the three suspects, the report said.
After their arrests, the students said the instruments were at a home in North Manchester where police later recovered the stolen property, the report said.
The three were taken to Boone County Jail. Blankenship was released on a $10,000 bail, and Guilliam and Smith remained there as of 8 p.m. Thursday.
