After a nationally televised 31-point win Wednesday, the Ball State University football team is reaping the benefits in this week's polls.
The Cardinals (9-0, 5-0 Mid-American Conference) jumped three spots to No. 14 in the latest BCS Standings released Sunday afternoon.
Ball State moved ahead of No. 17 Brigham Young University, No. 18 Texas Christian University and No. 20 Louisiana State University following its 45-14 win against Northern Illinois University earlier this week at Scheumann Stadium.
The BCS Standings are comprised of the Harris Poll, coaches poll and six computer polls.
The Cardinals received their highest ranking in the computer polls and Harris Poll at No. 15. Ball State also moved up two spots to No. 16 in the coaches poll.
Of the non-BCS teams, Ball State is ranked third behind No. 7 University of Utah and No. 9 Boise State University. For the Cardinals to be guaranteed a BCS Bowl berth they need to be the highest-ranked non-BCS conference team and at least No. 12 in the standings.
In addition to the BCS Standings the Cardinals jumped two spots to No. 14 in the Associated Press Poll released Sunday afternoon.
Ball State received 677 votes - 83 more votes than last week.
Of the 65 AP voters, Adam Van Brimmer from the Savannah Morning News in Georgia, ranked Ball State the highest at No. 10.
In addition to Ball State, Western Michigan University was listed at No. 31 with six votes, and Central Michigan University was listed at No. 33 with five votes. This is the first time this season three MAC teams have received at least one vote in the AP Poll.
