SWIMMING AND DIVING: Boilermakers too hot for BSU to handle in pool

Ball State finishes second to Purdue in men's, women's

Both the Ball State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams took second place Saturday at the Indiana Intercollegiate.

Both teams finished behind Purdue University and ahead of the University of Indianapolis and IUPUI in their first multiteam meet of the season.

Purdue won the men's meet with 887.5 points, while Ball State had 386.5, Indianapolis had 341.5 and IUPUI had 132.2. On the women's side, Purdue won with 718 points, Ball State took second with 647, Indianapolis took third with 308 and IUPUI rounded out the field with 143.

Mary Ehresman and Lauren Harger posted the best results of the day for the Cardinals' women as Ehresman won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:10.16, and Harger won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.80.

None of the Ball State men won an event, but Austin Laska finished second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.53 seconds.
