A construction worker was injured Monday while working on the structure of North Hall.
Tony Proudfoot, associate vice president for marketing and communications, said the injury resulted from a beam that fell on the man, who was taken to Ball Memorial Hospital.
Proudfoot wouldn't release the name or condition of the worker.
Kevin Kenyon, associate vice president for facilities planning and management, said Ball State University, along with site contractors, takes extra precautions to ensure the safety of its employees.
"Contractors provide mandated OSHA training for all employees," he said. "The training gives appropriate knowledge related to hard hats, fire safety and precautions against falling."
Shiel Sexton, a contracting company based in Indianapolis, was recruited for the construction of North Hall and has worked with Ball State many times in the past.
Kenyon said Ball State's relationship with the contractors has been exemplary and injury rates have remained very low, excluding minor injuries.
