Central Michigan University defeated the Ball State University field hockey team 3-1 Saturday afternoon, extending the Cardinals' losing streak to a school record 10 games.
The Chippewas spoiled senior day for Ball State quickly by jumping into the lead when senior midfielder Amanda Lucik scored less than three minutes into the contest. Lucik would add another goal three minutes later when she took a pass from Pam Seufret on a mini-breakaway.
The Cardinals would break their 227-minute scoreless streak on a penalty stroke from freshman midfielder Devanny Kuhn. The goal came with 12:12 left in the game and was the first of Kuhn's career.
Ball State falls to 1-11 overall and 0-4 in the Mid-American Conference. They will try again Sunday for their first MAC victory of the year when they play Miami University at 1 p.m.
