Local restaurants will donate proceeds Thursday to a Ball State University family. William David Carter, the son of Mark Carter, died at the age of 26 this week and the restaurants are looking to give back.
Mark Carter, also known as The Hot Dog Man, sets up his hot dog stand in The Village late nights at the corner of Dill Street and University Avenue. According to Daily News articles, Carter used to have a restaurant in the Village, but after four years he closed its doors and began working from a cart in 2002.
His stand and his "nearly world famous hot dogs" made it into Sports Illustrated's "The 100 Things You Gotta Do Before You Graduate."
The Locker Room manager said it would donate 100 percent of Thursday's proceeds to the Carter family. Amazing Joe's also would be taking donations, and servers would be working to gain extra tips for the family.
William Carter worked at both restaurants as a bartender.
Dill Street, Texas Roadhouse and The Chug are some other locations that will donate proceeds to the Carter family.
Mark Carter declined to comment.
