TRACK AND FIELD: Four athletes earn first team All-MAC

Four Ball State University track and field athletes were rewarded for their performance at the Mid-American Conference indoor championships with spots on the All-MAC first team.

Senior Terri Abraham, sophomore Ali Bishel and freshmen Ra'Jae Marable and Thekla Lorenz each won an event at the conference championships to earn a spot on the MAC team.

Abraham won the long jump with a leap of 19 1/2 to take a spot on the conference team.

Bishel won two events at the conference meet, the mile and the 3,000-meter run. She led the mile race with a time of 4:53.72 and the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:40.59.

Marable won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58, even though she entered the event as the No. 7 seed out of eight runners.

Lorenz won the pentathlon at the meet. She won the long jump with a leap of 18-10 1/2. She finished third in the shot put and sixth in both the 60-meter hurdles and high jump.

Ball State's Amanda Barnhart, a senior for the Cardinals, also made the second team All-MAC. She finished second in the long jump behind Lorenz.

As a team, Ball State finished fourth in the conference to end its indoor season. The Cardinals start their outdoor season March 29 at the University of Toledo.
