Campus Alliance held its first Ball State University Student Government Association meeting Wednesday and about 20 senators filled the seats.
In previous meetings, about 50 members filled Student Senate.
President Frank Hood said Cabinet positions would be filled in the next couple of weeks, and more students would be appointed as senators also.
Although the Cabinet members have not been selected yet, Senate approved Nicole Akey's appointment as Credentials Board chairwoman. Akey is in charge of reviewing applications students submit to be in SGA.
The meeting was shorter than usual because there was less to do, Hood said, but it went well.
Meetings typically last about one hour and 45 minutes, but this week's meeting lasted about 45 minutes.
"I'm happy," Hood said. "It went as I expected and as smoothly as I expected."
Campus Alliance members met earlier in the week to plan how things would go and work through the transition process, he said.
Vice President Carrie Cozad said former Vice President Jamie Manuel told her the first couple of meetings might be difficult to run because of few senators and appointments; however, she said she agreed with Hood that the meeting went smoothly.
"I was nervous all day," she said, "but I'm happy now."
During the meeting, senators brainstormed ideas on how to get more students to join SGA and gave committee reports.
The Academic Affairs Committee is continuing its work on professor evaluation forms. The Student Safety Committee will look into providing more lighting by the designated smoking area near the Studebaker complexes.
