Mr. Phi-Nominal returns to Pruis

Sorority to donate proceeds, winner to receive $500

Eleven Ball State University men will vie for the title of Mr. Phi-Nominal and a $500 prize tonight at Pruis Hall.

Alpha Phi Sorority President Lauren Madden said contestants would display talents for a panel of judges such as singing, dancing and jumping rope for points.

"You don't have to have talent," Madden said. "You just have to be able to entertain the crowd."

Madden said each contestant would be interviewed after his performance, and the three men with the most points would answer a beauty pageant-style question.

Alpha Phi Treasurer Maggie Naffziger said sorority members have been busy asking local businesses to sponsor the event.

Madden said the sorority uses the competition to raise money for the Alpha Phi Foundation.

According to the Alpha Phi International Fraternity Web site, the Alpha Phi Foundation has focused on funding research and educational programs related to women's cardiac health for the last 50 years.

Naffziger said last year's competition raised about $6,000 for the foundation.
