DUPLAIN WINS CIVIL TRIAL

The jury in the McKinney v. Duplain civil trial ruled in favor of defendant Robert Duplain.

After more than two weeks in court, the jury spent about three hours in deliberation.

Tony Proudfoot, Ball State University's associate vice president of marketing and communications, said in press release Michael McKinney's death affected everyone who was involved.

"There are no winners in this case," Proudfoot said. "The university extends our deepest sympathy to the McKinney family for the loss of their son."

Gene Burton, director of public safety, said he could not comment on the situation.
