Volunteer sessions start next week

Four people showed up to the volunteer orientation day Tuesday, hosted by the Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Kay Renoe, director of voluntary services, news and community programs for the local chapter, said this week's informational session was open to the general public, but no Ball State University students attended.

There will be orientation sessions specifically for Ball State students 4:15 p.m. Tuesday and 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at the downtown office, Renoe said. Student volunteers are usually working with Student Voluntary Services, she said.

"We understand students have a certain number of voluntary hours to complete, and we will work around their schedules," Renoe said.

Students are asked to call 284-3361 and make a reservation before Tuesday's session, she said.

The chapter office is located at 325 E. Washington St.
