WOMEN'S GOLF: Ball State finishes in 6th place at Falcon Invitational

The Cardinals entered the final round of the Falcon Invitational in sixth place, 10 strokes behind the leader. They improved their standing to fifth place by the end of the day, falling short to Mid-American Conference rival University of Toledo. Toledo finished the first day in fourth place and fought its way to the top of the leaderboard on Tuesday, shooting a tournament-best round of 311. Ball State University had the second-best round of the invitational, shooting a 317.

"We shot an average score for us," coach Katherine Mowat said. "Yesterday was completely opposite: yesterday was a battle."

Individually, Kirsty O'Connor also had the second-best round in the tournament on Tuesday by shooting a 75. O'Connor finished the tournament tied for 24th individually.

Three of the four Cardinals' highest scores on Tuesday came from underclassmen.

"They've been consistent," Mowat said. "I'm seeing it more, especially this spring with Melissa Miller as a third freshman in the lineup."
