The Ball State University men's tennis team will travel to Indiana State University in hopes of improving its 8-12 record today. The match against Indiana State (9-10) was originally scheduled for an earlier date, but because of weather was postponed.
Last year when the Cardinals played the Sycamores they won 5-2. The Sycamores traveled to Muncie with only five players for the match, causing the Cardinals to win the No. 6 singles spot by default. Ball State also won the doubles point along with multiple singles matches.
Junior Jarrod Epkey said that Ball State is not thinking about conserving energy, but is trying to finish every match as fast as possible.
"[We are] taking the matches and trying to get off the court as soon as possible," he said.
In practice on Monday the Cardinals did their normal routine and tried to tune up things that need improvement.
"We are just taking every day with practice normally," Epkey said. "We just tried to tighten up things. We are also just trying to stay grooved and trying to stay ready to play."
Today's match will be one of three the Cardinals will have in a four-day period. The team played Mid-American Conference rival Western Michigan University on Saturday and again on Wednesday against IPFW at 1:00 p.m. Ball State is 2-1 in conference after its first MAC loss Saturday to undefeated Western Michigan University.
