MUNCIE, Ind. (NLI) - Former Muncie Mayor James P. Carey died Monday morning. Carey served for two terms in the 1980s and early '90s.
Before Carey served as mayor, he was the Delaware County sheriff and Muncie police chief.
Delaware County Sheriff George Sheridan said Carey was a popular politician.
"He was a very well liked individual. I'm sure there will be a lot of people with a lot of good memories about him," Sheridan said. "He'll be missed by quite a few folks out there."
