CEO to speak about professional world

Miller College offers series focused on outside perspectives

The CEO of Wernle Children's Home in Richmond will give students an outside perspective of the work world today at 3 p.m. as part of the Miller College of Business' Distinguished Speaker Series.

Darrell Gordon will deliver "Successful Students Must Adapt to Change," in the Whitinger Business Building Room 144. Gordon was asked to speak because of his interesting background.

The main focus of Gordon's presentation will be the influence of change and how it affects jobs, families and education, he said. His speech will be directed to three categories of students: those interested in finding high-paying jobs after graduation, those looking to improve their relationships and those wishing to graduate at the top of their class.

Gordon said the only way to achieve any of these aspirations is to accept the force that change has and not to fear the process.

The Distinguished Speaker Series was created to give students an outside perspective of the work world. It presents information different from what is found in a textbook, Tammy Estep, director of external relations for the college, said. This year, the series is offering one speaker about every other week, allowing students ample opportunity to listen to advice from successful professionals. -á
