WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Five players commit to Cardinal program

The Ball State University women's volleyball team has signed four players to national letters of intent and accepted a fifth as a transfer.

The four signees are Julie Breivogel of Boonville, Ind.; Cassie Conner of Willow Springs, Ill.; Courtney Diggins of Indianapolis, Ind.; and Ana Gabriela Pedrosa of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Christine Kennedy will transfer to Ball State from Saint Mary's College (Calif).

Breivogel led Boonville High School to back-to-back appearances in the 3A state championship game. As a senior she was named First Team All-State, and earned second team honors as a junior.

Conner was named to the All-West Suburban Conference team. She helped Lyons Township High School to two regional titles.

Diggins was a member of Indianapolis Brebeuf Preparatory School, which won the 3A state championship last season.

Pedrosa will be the first Brazilian player in the history of the women's volleyball team and the seventh international player overall. She played in Brazil's Sparta Volleyball Club.

Kennedy transfers to BSU after one year at St. Mary's.
