The Ball State University softball team will have a new coach at the helm to begin next season. Ball State has elected not to renew the contracts of coach Terri Laux and assistant coach Cris Lukas.-á -á
Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins said in a press release that he felt he had to make a personnel decision.-á
"It is my determination to make a change in the direction of our softball program at Ball State," Collins said. "We appreciate the energy and effort Terri has put into this program for the past 10 years and Cris for the past two. We will honor the remainder of their contracts."-á
In her 10 years as the head coach at Ball State, Laux had a record of 222-283-1. She also led the 1998 team to a Mid-American Conference Championship and an NCAA tournament berth. -á
Lukas had just completed her second year with Ball State as an assistant. She also served as the team's pitching coach.-á
The search for their replacements is already under way.
