TRACK: BSU traveling to South Bend

Tough competition awaits Cardinals at Meyo Invite

The Ball State University's women's indoor track and field team is set to head to Notre Dame for their biggest challenge yet.

The two-day event starts on Friday, as the Cardinals head to South Bend, Ind., for the Meyo Invitational. The field of participants for this meet consists of several powerhouses from the likes of the Mid-American Conference, Southeastern Conference, Big East and Big Ten conferences.

Unfortunately, the Cardinals are not going all out, as they are leaving some team members home, for rest or injury concerns.

"Hopefully the runners that go can get just one race in and then get some rest, as it is needed," coach Sue Parks said.

Many of the members are working on specific goals they placed for themselves and hoping for added improvement in this meet as well as those to come.

"The main goal is to just be more focused," sophomore Amber Williams said. "The competition is going to be much more competitive and I just hope to keep performing to the best of my abilities."

Expectations for continued success are still clearly evident for this week and the many weeks to come.

"We're definitely happy with the success up to this point," Williams said. "And the thing that makes it the most satisfying is that it's only the beginning."
