Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams added wins to their dual meet records after handing Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis another regular season loss.
"We had some, not only season best times, but some best times for Lewellen Aquatic Center," co-coach Bob Thomas said.
Overall, the women's team was able to win 11 of the 13 events, including both the one and three-meter diving boards with a total meet score of 147-86.
The Ball State "A" relay team of Brittany Sayler, Addison Del Rio, Erika Paul and Abby Arnold started the winning by taking first in the 200-yard medley relay with a total time of 1:49.41.
After the break for the first two rounds of diving competition, Dani Fisher swam the 1000-yard freestyle event in a total time of 10:57.75, which was not one of her better times of the season, but was good enough to win, Thomas said.
Brittany Mishler, Ashley VanOsdol and Chelsea Anderson swept the 200-yard freestyle event, and was followed by Michelle Huang, Sayler and Amanda Poby as they also swept the 50-yard freestyle event.
One of the two events that the women's team did not win was the 400-yard individual medley. Alyssa Watkins, Megan Ploetz and Nicole Rambeau were able to get second, third and fourth in the event.
"We gave other people the opportunity to shine in different events, and I thought they did really well," Thomas said.
Some of the women's team members that swam in different events and were able to get wins included Del Rio, Mary Brinkoetter, Erika Paul, Sayler and Lauren Harger.
"I thought this was the best dual meet diving contest that we've had all year," co-coach Laura Seibold-Caudill said.
Paige Vernasco, Stephanie Paul and Katie Boyle swept the one-meter diving board while Stephanie Paul and Boyle also took first and second in the three-meter diving event.
On the men's side, Zach Whitaker and Caleb Bye took first and second place on the one-meter board while Whitaker also showed his dominance by winning the three-meter board.
The men were able to win by a final tally of 141-90 while earning first place finishes in 10 of the 13 events.
"Tyler [McQuiston} is back," Thomas said. "He's been injured all fall, and it's good to have him back and break 22 seconds in this pool."
McQuiston took first in the 50-yard freestyle event with a final time of 21.96 seconds. He was followed by teammates Brett Pettit and Chris Braden in third and fourth.
The team of Kurtis Leer, Ryan Franklin, Ritchie Caudill and Josh Schum won the 200-yard medley relay with a final time of 1:37.31, which was 3.35 seconds ahead of second place.
Kyle Hembree swam the fastest time in the 1000-yard freestyle event with a time of 9:51.16, while Caudill and Mark Augustyn swam half that distance with times of 4:49.28 and 4:59.02, which earned the two first and second places.
Leer (52.80), Hembree (56.43) and Jim Lullo (57.30) swept the 100-yard backstroke event with times that place them amongst the top of the conference, for now, Thomas said.
"For a Wednesday night, I thought they did very well," Thomas said. "We're right in the middle of a week of training, and I didn't change anything this week. There's no room for takin' it easy. If you're going to do that, don't swim."
