SWIMMING AND DIVING: Cards compete in final dual meet

Teams travel to Ohio in hopes of continuing winning streak

The men's and women's swimming and diving teams are on a two and three-meet winning streak, respectively, and hope to use that momentum as they travel to Mid-American Conference competitor Ohio University in the final dual meet of the regular season.

"This will probably be our toughest dual meet that we can win," graduate assistant coach Erica Janssen said.

Since Winter Break, the women's team has won five of their last six meets, improving their team record to 8-3 in dual meets. They are also 4-2 in the MAC with the four wins against Buffalo, Akron, Bowling Green and, most recently, Toledo.-á The two losses were against Miami and Eastern Michigan.

"[Ohio] is going to be a tougher meet than Toledo," co-coach Bob Thomas said. "I see it as being tougher than when we swam Miami, and by far tougher than when we swam Eastern Michigan."

Like the women's team, the men are also on a winning streak. Since Winter Break, they are 2-2 with the two much needed wins coming back-to-back against Butler and IUPUI.-áThe team is 1-2 in MAC competition and needs to win this Saturday to break even in both MAC and overall standings.

Thomas said he is looking forward to making the trip to Athens, Ohio, for competition because this is the place where the men's MAC Championships will be held in early March.

Both teams will be leaving Saturday morning with the meet starting at 1 p.m. at the Ohio University Aquatic Center.
