Former BSU players to be inducted to Hall

Seven former Ball State University athletes will be inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame this weekend.

The inductees include four field hockey players and three men from basketball, tennis and swimming and diving teams.

Cathy Basso, Gina Lucido, Mindy Pretzman and Ashleigh Schoultz were seniors on the 1994 Mid-American Conference championship field hockey team. All four received All-American honors in 1994 and helped lead the Cardinals to an NCAA Championship appearance.

Chandler Thompson earned three letters for the men's basketball team. Thompson was named to the 1991 National Invitation Tournament All-Star Team. He became the sixth player in Ball State history to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds.

John Amos was the first player in men's tennis history to earn Academic All-American First-Team honors. Amos finished his career with a 83-26 singles record and was 16-0 against MAC opponents.

David Keener earned four letters for the men's swimming and diving team. Keener was a 1994 All-American and finished with 71 career wins. He held every Ball State record and five of six MAC records in diving when he graduated.

There will be a banquet at the Ball State Alumni Center on Feb. 3 and the inductees will be introduced at the men's and women's basketball double-header on Feb. 4.
