WOMEN'S GOLF: Transfer leads Cards to sixth place finish

Kallie Harrison got off to a good start in her debut as a member of the Ball State University women's golf team over the weekend.

Harrison, a transfer from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, led the Cardinals with a 12th place finish at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate at Iowa University. She led the team in the second and third rounds. Amber Uphaus led Ball State in the first round, shooting 82.

Ball State finished sixth with a 977 score, while Iowa won the nine-team tournament with a score of 922. Southwest Missouri State shot a 959 to finish second in the Classic.

"We're a little disappointed with the weekend," Ball State coach Katherine Mowatt said.

Ball State shot 324 as a team to fall to seventh place in the first round but bounced back with rounds of 320 and 324.

"We had a tough first round and it's hard to make a big climb like that," Mowatt said.
