Domino's aims to be busiest in country

Despite a fire that destroyed everything at the local Domino's Pizza a couple of years ago, the current manager is trying to make the store not just the busiest in the city or state, but the busiest in the entire country.

Jeff Haines, manager of the store on McGalliard Road, said he hopes that as students begin coming back to school this fall, the store will see the same sales levels as it did in the 1990s.

Aside from the fire, there have also been a lot of different franchisees who have bought the store, and these circumstances combined have pushed sales lower -- not where Haines wants them to be.

Haines bought the store about four months ago, and although it is currently the third most patronized Domino's in the state, that's just not good enough for him.

The stores at Indiana and Purdue universities are the first and second most successful stores in the state, he said, but there isn't any reason that this store can't be number one.

If the Muncie Domino's doesn't become the busiest store in the country, Haines at least wants to get sales up to the level of other stores across the country, which is sometimes as high as $50,000 a week at campus stores.

Since Summer Semester ended a couple of weeks ago, sales at the McGalliard Road store have been as low as $14,000 or $15,000 a week, but those levels should rise after students return to school.

"The store has extreme potential with the campus being so close, and I want to feel the need of students to get sales as high as I can," Haines said.

He also said that he has achieved record sales in other stores he has managed, and there's no reason this store should be an exception.
