BSYou.net founder awarded for journalism

Alumna Amanda Carpenter, founder of BSYou.net, has received The Leadership Institute’s Campus Leadership Program Investigative Journalism Award, the Institute announced Wednesday.

Originally from Montrose, Mich., Carpenter is a 2005 graduate of the university. She is currently working as assistant editor for the Washington, D.C.-based conservative weekly newspaper, Human Events, according to a release issued by the Institute.

Carpenter started BSYou.net, Ball State’s conservative online publication, during the 2004-05 academic year.

The Campus Leadership Program, part of The Leadership Institute, organizes conservative student groups on campuses in all 50 states. The Institute looks to expand the number of active groups to more than 700 by the end of the 2005 Fall Semester.
