The women's golf team will host the Mid-American Conference championships this weekend in Indian Springs, Ohio at Walden Ponds Golf Club.
The Cardinals will look to reach their season-long goal of a top-three finish in the 54-hole event.
"We're very aware that the MAC conference in women's golf is strong," head coach Katherine Mowat said. "We're just looking to play well. You can play really well in golf and finish first, or you can play really well in golf and finish middle of the pack."
In the six years that women's golf has been recognized by the MAC, Kent State has won every team and individual title.
Last season, Ball State finished in sixth place out of the nine teams. With the past weekend off, the Cardinals have had time to enjoy the weather with some fun practices, Mowat said.
"They're getting fired up, and they're getting excited for this," Mowat said.
Mowat said she's looking for "that one magical round," around 300 that would help the teams confidence. Ball States lowest team score in one round this season came two weeks ago in the Illini Classic, where they shot a 319.
In that tournament, junior Carmen Bodine tied for first, but received second because she did not have the low round. Bodine said she just played relaxed, something she hopes she can do again this weekend.
"We've prepared for this all season," junior Carmen Bodine said. "We can pull it together if we can get four good scores each day."
