MEN'S BASKETBALL BSU fills final open spot with Detroit guard

Ball State filled its scholarship allotment for the 2005-06 season when Jalon Perryman signed a letter of intent Wednesday.

Perryman, a 6-foot-4 guard from Rogers Academy in Detroit, becomes the fourth member of coach Tim Buckley's recruiting class. He joins 5-8 point guard Maurice Acker and 6-9 center Pat Nelson from Illinois high schools and 6-7 forward D'Andre Peyton from Vincennes University.

Perryman averaged 20.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.2 steals as senior, leading Rogers Academy to a 19-5 record and third-straight state championship. As a junior Perryman averaged 20 points and seven rebounds.

"We are very excited to have signed a player of Jalon's ability," Buckley said. "We are adding another versatile player to our roster."

By signing Perryman, Buckley added the backcourt player he sought. Along with Acker, Perryman looks to fill the void left by graduated leading scorer Dennis Trammell and reserve Matt McCollom.
