MEN'S TENNIS Junior named MAC Playr of the week for sixth time in career

Ball State junior Matt Baccarani was named Tuesday as Mid-American Conference Player of the Week. It is the third time this season he has received the honor, and the sixth time in his career. It is also the fifth time a BSU player has earned player of the week honors.

Baccarani had two victories in Thursday's defeat of No. 55 Indiana, the first time in 10 years the Cardinals beat the Hoosiers. In the No. 1 singles match Baccarani downed No. 100 Jakub Praibis 6-3, 6-1. Prior to that he teamed with classmate Patrick Thompson for an 8-5 victory over IU's Ryan Recht and John Stone.

Baccarani and Thompson are ranked No. 18, which BSU's highest-ranked tandem since 1992.

Ball State is 7-3 this season and has defeated three consecutive Big Ten opponents.
