Sophomore Wayne Denger led the Ball State men's golf team to a third-place finish at the El Diablo Intercollegiate hosted by Marshall University in Citrus Springs, Fla.
Denger had rounds of 75, 72 and 77 on the par 72 course to finish sixth individually with a total score of 224, five shots short of the top spot.
Oklahoma City University won the event by 10 strokes with its score of 896. Texas-San Antonio was second, and Ball State fell seven strokes short of its mark. A total of 19 teams competed in the event.
Junior Patrick Wilkes-Krier and sophomore C.D. Hockersmith posted totals of 228 and 229, respectively. After rounds of 78 and 77 on Saturday Wilkes-Krier shot a 73 on Sunday. Hockersmith had rounds of 76, 79 and 74.
Also competing for the Cardinals were Brandon Boomsma, who posted a total of 239 (76-84-79) and Bud Graessle, who had a three round total of 240 (80-77-83).
