MEN'S BASKETBALL Ball State game to be broadcast on ESPN2

Ball State doesn't get long to recover from Wednesday's controversial, last-second loss to Miami. The Cardinals travel to Buffalo for a Saturday showdown, which will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at noon.

Even with Miami's 54-52 victory, which happened when officials counted Nathan Peavy's putback at the buzzer, Ball State (12-8 overall, 7-5 Mid-American Conference) still stands just half a game back of Western Michigan in the West Division, tied with Bowling Green and Toledo.

" We have a quick turnaround to get ready for Buffalo," coach Tim Buckley said. "This team wants to play. This team is ready to play."

Buffalo is another logjam, this one in the East Division. The Bulls (14-7) are 7-6 in conference play and stand in fifth. However, they are just 1.5 games behind second-place Kent State.

Last season, Buffalo came to Worthen Arena and upset the Cards 84-75. The Bulls went on to finish 17-12, and the entire roster returned this season.

Senior point guard Turner Battle leads the team with 15.5 points and 4.6 assists per game. Forward Mark Bortz, guard Calvin Cage and center Yassin Idbihi also average double figures in scoring.

"Buffalo is a vary talented team," Buckley said. "We know it's going to be a tough environment with ESPN2 and a national audience."
