Even though team scores weren't recorded for the Ohio State Invitational, it didn't stop Ball State from putting up a solid effort. That effort showed on the score board as the Cards placed 13 members in the top three. It was the best overall result so far in the winter indoor season for Sue Parks' club.
Leading the team with first place finishes were senior Sarah Huddleston (3000 meters), junior Crystal Winfrey (400 meters) and sophomore Rose Lehe (the mile). They weren't the only Cards that finished high.
Sophomore Amanda Barnhart took second in the long jump, which matched her result last week at Michigan. The 4x400 relay team, who also finished second last week, again took second. The relay team, made up of Huddleston and freshmen Yvonne Ferguson, Amber Williams and Christina Whitt finished the race at 4:03.21.
Huddleston continued her busy day as she took second in the mile behind Lehe. Ferguson's solid freshman season also continued as she was second in the 200-meter while Williams was runner up in the 60-meter hurdles.
Also helping out the team were the third place performances by senior Ashley Gillies (high jump), sophomores Terri Abraham (long jump), Amanda Brewer (800 meters), and Christina Poulson (200 meters). Rounding out the 13 that finished in the top three was Whitt (60 meters).
Ball State's indoor season doesn't stop at Ohio State, either. Next week the Cardinals will travel to Notre Dame and compete in the Meyo Invitational.
