SWIMMING Men rip through Buffalo for first win

Ball State won nine of 13 events Saturday to capture its first victory of the season, 156-81 at Buffalo. Two of the Cardinals' (1-2) wins came in the uncontested diving events, which Zach Whitaker and Ryan Plantz won.

Senior Kurtis Leer continued his dominating season by winning both the 100 and 200 freestyle (47.07 and 1:43.12, respectively). Other individuals picking up wins were Tyler McQuiston in the 50 free (21.47), Jim Lullo in the 500 free (4:43.98) and Ritchie Caudill in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.5).

Two relay squads also won for the Cards. Zack Hall, Josh Willer, Ryan Bowman and Leer teamed up for a 3:30.6 time in the 400 medley. In the 400 free relay, it was Hall, Jagen Arnold, Jeff Sheets and Bowman winning in 3:14.48.
