Digital artwork shown in German festival

Digital artwork made by a Ball State University digital media art professor and a music technology graduate student was featured at an international digital media art festival in Germany.

John Fillwalk, artist-in-residence at Ball State's Center for Media Design, and Kevin Blue, a music technology graduate student at Ball State, had their work, "Three Transpositions," juried into CYNETart_04.

The festival, Nov. 17-21, showcased works from artists around the world. Only nine video works were juried in, selected from more than 1,000 artists from more than 30 countries.

"This is one of the more prestigious and selective international digital art festivals, so I was honored to learn of the work's acceptance," Fillwalk said. "I feel privileged to have my work represented at this level."

"Three Transpositions" is a digital artwork originally commissioned for the launch of the CMD. The three-panel digital video composition was produced in Maya, a three-dimensional computer animation program taught at Ball State. The soundtrack was produced by Blue.
