Sigma Phi Epsilon is teaming up with Alpha Gamma Delta tocelebrate Halloween from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Fridayand 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. Saturday and Sunday by inviting the communityto tour its haunted house, the Nightmare on Riverside.

According to senior history major and Sigma Phi Epsilon MikeSchloot the annual event, which is being held for its estimatedeighth year will be a good time for everyone except the faint ofheart. While there is no set theme for this year's haunted house, visitors are sure to be treated to a continuous horrorexperience.

"Each room is unique in its own way..." Schloot said. "And thereare chainsaws."

The haunted house is located in the basement of the Sigma PhiEpsilon house and consists of 12 rooms, each with its own uniquegimmick.

Visitors begin the guided tour by making their way through the"Insane Asylum." From there guests are sent through a series ofdisorienting and maze-like twits and turns, stopping in variouslythemed rooms for a short period of time.

Senior accounting major and Sigma Phi Epsilon PhilanthropicChair Tom Cramer believes the rooms will speak for themselves, citing many of the rooms as "really scary," which may explain thesuccess of past Halloween events.

"It is usually pretty busy. It was slow last night but it alwayspicks up," Cramer said in response to the Wednesday night lull. "Itusually takes until later in the week to get a good crowd."

Admission to the haunted house is five dollars or four dollarswith the donation of a canned food item. Proceeds will be going toBig Brothers, Big Sisters of Delaware County and the Alpha GammaDelta Foundation to help fund philanthropic efforts such asdiabetes research, leadership training and scholarships.

The process of setting up the haunted house begins in Septemberwhen each member Sigma Phi Epsilon member is required to go outinto the community and acquire a minimum fifty dollar donation tofund the project. Once the project has been planned, each member isrequired to participate in the events.

"A haunted house is a great way to reach out to students oncampus," Senior elementary education major and Vice President ofProgramming for Sigma Phi Epsilon Adam Sax said. "And it's a greatway to help the less fortunate."

Alpha Gamma Delta Vice President of Recruitment Katy Peat, asenior organizational communications major, is happy to be a partof the fundraising effort, with this being Alpha Gamma Delta'sfirst year partnering with Sigma Phi Epsilon.

"It's a great way for us to get together with anotherorganization and meet new people while helping others," Peat said."We're having just as much fun working as everybody goingthrough."
