...AND HE'S ON IT: Red Sox Victory historic, more than just a win

It's finally over. After years of waiting, it has finallyhappened.

The Red Sox have broken the curse. After the greatest comebackin baseball history against the Evil Empire known as the Yankees, the Red Sox faced the offensive juggernaut known as the St. LouisCardinals.

And they did it.

The curse is over.

As a native of Massachusetts, I have known the reality of thecurse all too well.

I cannot properly express my joy, or how the Red Sox feel rightnow. I can tell you that I have waited my entire life for thismoment.

I could tell you about the years I spent tortured, not just bythe curse, but by the cliche that haunts fans of losing teams. Iwas haunted by my family (whom all trace their roots to New Yorkand are all Yankees fans). By the history of my team. By Bucky(bleeping) Dent, Bill Buckner, Joe DiMaggio and Aaron (bleeping)Boone.

This is, quite frankly, the best sports moment of my life, atleast that I can remember. This will go down as one of the greatestsports stories of all time.

The symbolism is there: hope, even through tough times (and, yes, curses), triumph over evil (the Yankees), love of the game, unlikely heroes (Mark Bellhorn) and a win against unbelievableodds.

Not to mention Curt Schilling, who battled through pain in orderto win and feels that the entire team would have done the same forhim.

The Red Sox finally have their storybook ending. They never eventrailed in a game to the Cardinals after being three outs away fromelimination in the American League Championship Series.

While the Sox had their trademark World Series errors, St. Louiswas not able to capitalize on their errors in the first two games. The curse tried to show it's ugly head, but it's power waslost.

Perhaps that was because A-Rod picked New York over Boston, asso much of the curse's history deals with New York. Perhaps is wasjust getting the right team together. I would like to believe itwas something more.

This win was not just a win for Boston.

This is for you, Chicago.

This is for anyone who thinks the world is against them.

This is for anyone who has lost his far share of games, ormore.

This is for anyone who wants a reason to believe.

Babe Ruth can rest for a while now. His work cursing the Red Soxis over.

I don't care if it takes another 86 years to do it again.

Sure, the wait was long, hard and the most gut-wrenchingbaseball experience in my life. But when the Red Sox won, when theyfinally did it after 86 years of waiting, I wouldn't trade thatfeeling for anything in the world.
