WOMEN'S SWIMMING Five seniors end BSU swimming career

It was the end of the road for five women swimmers over the weekend. For Nora Lucas, Ericka and Jessica Nance, Ashley Zastrow and Bethany Fortuna, their season came to a close at the Midwest Classic held at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.

Coach Laura Seibold-Caudill said before the weekend the girls were hoping to accomplish season goals set before the year began. None of the five will compete at the MAC championships this weekend, since only 20 total team members are allowed to compete.

The Miami RedHawks, one of the teams the Cardinals will be facing next week, won the Classic with a score of 790, far ahead of second-place Northern Colorado, who finished with 711. Ball State did not compile points because it competed only in the preliminaries each morning.

Ball State takes an 11-5 record overall and 4-4 Mid-American Conference record into the conference meet this weekend. The RedHawks, who happen to be favored to defend their MAC Championship, will host the three-day meet, starting Thursday.
