Ball State updating wireless services

Ball State is updating its wireless computer network making it the fastest among Indiana college campuses.

The university will increase the wireless speed from 11 to 54 megabits per second within the next two months.

Computers using 11 Mbps cards will still be able to use the wireless network but at a slower speed, vice-president for information technology O'Neal Smitherman said.

"I can get information anywhere I want under any sort of situation I find myself in," he said. "You change the way you think about getting access to resources and information. We're seeing incredibly creative ways to make our lives richer, fuller and more exciting."
