The Recruitment Fair tonight will introduce women to the sororities on campus.
Women interested in joining a sorority can attend the event at 9 p.m. in the Student Center Ball Room to ask questions about the chapters before the upcoming recruitment.
Spring recruitment will begin this week but will be less formal then fall recruitment. Each sorority is allowed to host any event they want and whenever they would like.
However, not all of the chapters will be participating due to the limit of members each sorority can have.
"We don't want any chapter to be too large," Lori Jacquemin, president of Panhellenic Council, said. "We only have suites, and we have a certain capacity."
Jacquemin said once a sorority reaches 80 members they are not allowed to participate in recruitment.
"If they had anymore they almost couldn't function," Jacquemin said.
The cap on members prevents Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Omicron Pi and Alpha Phi sororities from participating in Spring recruitment. Alpha Gamma Delta and Sigma Sigma Sigma sororities will not participate either but have not yet reached the cap.
Recruitment in the spring is less formal in that sororities set their own schedules.
Liz Stephan, president of Pi Beta Phi sorority, said she would like it if Spring recruitment was formal.
"It would attract more girls if Spring recruitment was formal," Stephan said.
While a few sororities are only hosting one evening to meet potential new members, Kappa Alpha Theta sorority has planned three events.
"I think it's really important to have more then one night so girls can really have a chance to get to know our sisters," Kappa Alpha Theta President Emily Lynn said.
The chapters will be allowed to take as many members they would like as long as they stay under the designated cap, but Kappa Delta sorority President Kyle Fisher said her chapter is looking for women who strive for excellence.
"We are looking for women who want to join a sisterhood and join a wonderful group of friends," Fisher said.
