Muncie man shot; released from hospital

Police are investigating a shooting that led to the hospitalization of a Muncie man Wednesday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m., Ronnie Shoecraft, 2108 S. Hackley St., was shot in the upper part of his leg while at the home, police said.

The shooter has not yet been identified, said Detective Sgt. Steve Cox of Muncie police.

"We don't know who we're looking for right now," he said.

Cox said no one else at the scene was hurt; however, paramedics transported Shoecraft to the emergency room at Ball Memorial Hospital.

Shoecraft was treated and released Wednesday evening, said Neil Gifford of the hospital's public relations department.

According to police, witnesses were present at the scene of the shooting. However, Cox said he could not release information provided by witnesses.

"The police department is absolutely working hard on this case," he said.
