Colts fans gather at BW-3's to cheer team to victory

"Rally towel!" senior Ryan Culbreth yelled as he leaped out of his seat at BW3s in the third quarter of Sunday's Colts' game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Culbreth was one of what manager Mike Davidson estimated to be 250 avid Colts fans watching the game at BW3s in the Village.

After every big play, Culbreth, a senior, would stand up and twirl a rally towel he got from the Colts' home game against the Titans this year. He was one of the most animated fans in attendance, but he wasn't the only one celebrating the Colts' 38-31 victory.

"The Colts played flawless today," Culbreth said. "We were more accurate and precise than anything the Chiefs had."

At the beginning of the game, fans were optimistic, and many had predictions of a Colts' triumph. Junior Andy Schwartz correctly predicted a 38-31 win for Indianapolis.

"It was a good call," Schwartz said about his prophecy. "I had a good feeling about that one.

"I liked that our offense was unstoppable, and our defense came through when it had to," Schwartz added.

After the game, fans praised Indianapolis' high-powered offense and co-MVP quarterback Peyton Manning.

"Manning was incredible today," sophomore Bret Hammond said. "He's the true MVP," he added, refering to the tie between Manning and Tennesse's Steve McNair for the NFL's Most Valuable Player award.

Senior Brad Barber said he thought Manning was much more than a great quarterback.

"Manning's a god," Barber said after the Colts' quarterback's 304 yard, three touchdown performance.

As soon as the game ended, fans began turning their sights to next week's game against the New England Patriots. Most fans felt that, if the Colts play the way they have the past two weeks, they will win the game.

"It will be cold, so the key will be if the receivers can catch the ball," Culbreth said. "But (running back) Edgerrin (James) will be running hard again. We're 9-0 when he runs for 100 yards. If he does that, we'll be good."

As for the high-scoring victory over the favored Chiefs, senior Emilee Ransdell summed up many fans' thoughts after the game.

"Oh my god, that was awesome!" Ransdell said.
