The Ball State men's and women's swimming teams will see somefamiliar faces across the pool come Wednesday. Butler, a team bothCardinals squads faced earlier this season at the IndianaIntercollegiate, visits Muncie for a dual meet at LewellenPool.
The Bulldog men are coming off a 126-77 setback vs. HorizonLeague rival University of Illinois-Chicago last Friday. Butlermanaged four wins, including two by Carlton Racette, who won the1000 freestyle and 200 individual medley. Freshmen Raj Duggal (500free) and Jason Brozek (100 breaststroke) won their respectiveevents, and the 200 free relay team also returned to Indianapoliswith a win.
Also, UIC downed Butler's women's team, 134-73. The Bulldogsmanaged only three wins, including Catie Scott in the 500 free,Mary Beth Arnold in the 100 breast and the 200 free relay team.
In the 100 breast, Tori Hyman and Amanda Walter joined Arnoldfor the top three spots.
Both Butler teams have competed in nine meets and are 0-4 indual meets this season, including fifth-place finishes at theIndiana Intercollegiate. At the same meet, both Ball State teamsfinished second.
Neither men's coach Bob Thomas nor women's coach LauraSeibold-Caudill said they are overly concerned about Wednesdaynight.
"They're not very strong," Thomas said. "The outcome is notgoing to be a major issue. It will give us a chance to swimalternative events."
Seibold-Caudill agreed.
"We have more depth than they do," she said. "We can pretty muchgo in with an off lineup. They have a good team and program, andit's going to get better and better."
Because neither Butler team fields a diving team, Ball State'sdivers will not be in action.
