IPR sponsors series about democracy

Radio listeners can examine American democracy through IndianaPublic Radio's week-long series, "Whose Democracy is it?"

Programs that explore subjects ranging from barriers to votingin the United States to patriotism will be broadcast at 7 p.m.Monday through Friday and at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The series features live local-election coverage, fourdocumentaries, a call-in program and interactive Web sites.

IPR programs will feature segments throughout the week relatedto the series. Additional shows and times are as follows:

-Live local-election coverage; 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., Tuesday.

-"Whose Vote Counts?": A documentary that looks at Americanvoting; 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

-"Exporting Democracy: Justice Talking" : A program that focuseson efforts to bring democracy to foreign countries; 7 p.m. to 8p.m. Thursday.

-"The Culture of Patriotism": Looks at American expressions ofpatriotism; 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

-"Exporting Democracy: The World Speaks": A call-in program; 1p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
