WOMEN'S GOLF: Cards capture first place at invitational

Coming off one of the best performances in Ball State women'sgolf history this weekend, head coach Shelley Sanders has much tolook forward to from a young squad the rest of this season.

Sophomore Ali Meyer became the first individual medalist in BallState women's golf history as the Cardinals placed first in theYoungstown State Invitational in the four-team tournament.

Meyer shot a 150 (75-75) through two rounds while her teammatesplayed equally supporting roles giving BSU four of the top fiveindividual finishes.

Competing as an individual, Ball State's Katie Sundberg shot a151 (76-75) for second place while senior Lisa Robertson capturedfourth place with a 153 (77-76) through two rounds.

Sophomore Carmen Bodine shot an 81 in the first round, butimproved in round two with a 73 to take fifth place honors.Freshmen Chelsie Flannery and Amber Uphaus shot 157 and 159,respectively for the Cards.

Team finishes included Youngstown State, St. Francis and Gannonplacing second, third and fourth, respectively.

Ball State will participate next in the Notre Dame InvitationalSept. 27-28 at the Warren Golf Course.
