I was stunned by the Our View printed in the 9-11-03 edition ofthe Daily News. I thought it was very inappropriate toattack Christianity in Islam's defense. As I read your editorialand saw, "Islam doesn't promote hate and violence," I almost fellover.
Has any staff members taken time to read the Quran? It seems youhaven't. Since you used the Bible to defame Christianity, let megive you a few examples from Islam's text:
"Remember Allah inspired the angels: I am with you. Givefirmness to the believers. I will instill terror into the hearts ofthe unbelievers: you smite them above their necks and smite alltheir fingertips off of them." (Quran 8:12)
Well, as a Christian, that makes me an "unbeliever" of Islam.But I shouldn't worry about that smiting and terror stuff. Maybe itwas a typo. I'll read further.
"O Prophet! Make war agaist the unbelievers and the hypocritesand be merciless against them. Their home is hell, an evil refugeindeed." (Quran 9:73)
Hmm ... make war, be merciless, evil ... Nope. "Islam doesn'tpromote hate and violence," you said. I better keep reading.
"When we decide to destroy a popuation, we send a definite orderto them who have the good things in life and yet sin. So thatAllah's word is proven true against them, then we destroy themutterly." (Quran, 17:16-17)
Destroying a population, eh?
