Parking enforcement to change Aug. 25

PARKING SERVICES

The Ball State parking task force has enacted a new policy set to start on Aug. 25. The policy states that parking services will enforce the same rules whether classes are in session or not.

However, Nancy Wray, supervisor of parking services, said that things will remain the same on weekends.

"These changes were decided upon earlier this year and were made to ensure consistency and to ensure that the parking option people paid for is available to them," Wray said in an e-mail.

Wray went on to explain that the "new policy includes breaks as long as the university is open for business."

In order to ease into the new policy, effective July 21, summer enforcement hours will remain in effect until Aug. 20.

Wray did say that 45-minute meters will remain free of charge on the weekends under the new policy.

Gene Burton, director of public safety was unavailable for comment as was Sandy Pyle, the supervisor of enforcement.
