Ball State finishes 5th in Michigan

The Ball State women's golf team finished fifth place out of ten teams at the Bronco Invitational at the Moors Golf Club in Portage, Mich. The Cardinals shot an overall team score of 662, while fellow MAC rival and tournament host Western Michigan won the tournament with a team score of 625.

Senior Ali Meyer led the Cardinal's effort with a six-place finish as an individual. Meyer shot an 82 on Sunday and followed that with a sizzling 75 on Monday.

Juniors Lisa Robertson and Sarah Padgett tied for 31st overall, each shooting a two day total of 170. Freshmen Carmen Bodine and Katie Sundberg rounded out the scoring with a 176.

Ball State will attempt to build off that performance heading into the Illini Spring Classic in Urbana, Ill., on Friday and Saturday. This will be the final tune-up for the team before the MAC Championships that begin on April 25 at Waldon Ponds Golf Club in Hamilton, Ohio.

"We are on track to playing our best golf, and the next two tournaments will show how we stand regionally, and the conference tournament will show how much we have actually improved," Coach Shelley Sanders said.
