BSU gymnasts lose despite bright spots

For the second time this season the Ball State gymnastics team came up short against Kent State, falling 196.00-196.95 on Friday.

The Cardinals came up short against the Golden Flashes earlier this season by one point on a neutral floor. Despite the loss, the Cards had plenty of bright spots. Jessica Surridge had one of her best individual performances of the year. The sophomore finished second in both the all-around (38.900) and the vault (9.825). Ball State was also led by junior Cassie Anthony and senior Amy Bodus, who finished, respectively, third (9.750) and fourth (9.725) on the beam.

Friday's loss places Ball State at 2-2 in Mid-American Conference action. The team's next conference meet won't be until February 16th, when the Cardinals will travel to Western Michigan. Before the Cards face more MAC competition the team will square off against another tough team on the road. Ball State will head to Columbus, Ohio, Saturday to face Ohio State.
