BSU places second at ND meet

The women's track team finished second in the Notre Dame Triangular on Friday, beating Western Michigan by six points (99-93) and falling short to a strong Notre Dame team, 131-99.

The Cardinals grabbed three first-place finishes along with nine top-three finishes. The firsts came from Patricia Soman and Natasha Lothery. Lothery won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:10.08 and Soman won the long jump with a leap of 19-10 1/4. Soman also tied for first in the triple jump with a mark of 39-6 3/4.

Ball State had five top three finishes in the field events, with Cheryl Beth taking second in the shot put (38-8 1/4). The Ball State "A" relay team of Anka Morris, Soman, Lothery and Crystal Winfrey took second in the second section of the 4x440 yard relay with a time of 3:51.85. In the first section the Ball State "C" relay team of Erin Anderson, Nicole McKenzie, LaToya Zubowicz and Jollet took second with a time of 4:23.63.
