BSU Webmail server crashes Tuesday

Some Ball State Webmail users may have been greeted with an unexpected message when they tried to check their e-mail Tuesday.

After entering a user name and password, a Web page that read "No Web site configured at this address" would appear.

But not every Webmail user experienced this problem. Junior King, associate director of university computing services, said one of the university's four e-mail servers went down around 10:30 a.m. due to hardware error.

King said the problem would probably take between 10 hours and 12 hours to correct.

Each of the four servers has multiple databases. The server that crashed has 12 databases. Computer technicians were repairing one server at a time, King said. Each database repair took about 50 minutes.5521ud*FLOCAL computer problemsDNEditorial552SORT+â-£+â-ä2AUDT
